Welcome to Kullman Kennels, we are a small, family-run hobby breeder nestled in the beautiful plains of Southwest Minnesota. We're passionate about raising well-adjusted, loving Australian Shepherds and Labrador Retrievers that become cherished members of your family.​​
The Family Behind Kullman Kennels
Kullman Kennels is a true family affair, consisting of myself, Cassandra, my husband, Eric, and our two daughters, Addison and Jacqueline. We have an absolute love for ALL animals, but especially our dogs. We cherish the opportunity to teach our daughters about the circle of life on our farm, and breeding allows us to witness the beautiful and positive aspects of that cycle. Our farm is a bustling haven for animals, including our beloved dogs, a few farm cats, an indoor/outdoor cat named Ember, a large chicken flock, custom-fed hogs, cattle, and a horse named Trigger. Needless to say, adding puppies to our farm family felt like a natural fit.
Our Labrador Retriever Breeding Philosophy
Our journey began with our beloved Fox Red Labrador Retriever, Remi. While we had one litter with Remi prior to completing her full health testing, it was a valuable learning experience. It reinforced our commitment to thorough health testing before breeding, which is now a cornerstone of our program. This dedication led us to seek out and find our wonderful Labrador breeding prospect, Ginger, from Turkey Creek Labradors in South Dakota. Our Australian Shepherd Breeding Philosophy
Our passion for Australian Shepherds stems from my husband, Eric's, lifelong desire to own one. We embarked on an extensive search for the perfect companion: friendly, protective when needed, but not overly so, and possessing strong working lines to assist with our livestock. Our search led us to Nala, from Ironside Ranch Australian Shepherds in Arizona, known for their high-quality, family-friendly Aussies with a natural drive to work livestock. Health Testing and Responsible Breeding Practices
We are committed to the health and well-being of our dogs and puppies. To ensure the highest standards, we conduct extensive health testing on all our breeding dogs. We utilize PawPrint Genetics to perform breed-specific genetic panels and conduct OFA (Orthopedic Foundation for Animals) testing for hips, elbows, and eyes as a minimum. For our Australian Shepherds, we also include OFA thyroid testing. Additionally, we focus on producing dilute-free puppies to maintain the rich, vibrant coat colors characteristic of our breeds. Our puppies are raised within the heart of our home, not in a separate kennel. This means they are immersed in daily life, interacting with our children, livestock, and all the sights, sounds, and smells that come with a busy family environment. This early socialization is crucial for developing confident, adaptable, and well-rounded dogs.
The story of Remi's transition to a pampered farm dog with our brother-in-law's parents reinforced our dedication to responsible breeding and ensuring our puppies find loving, suitable homes. Remi now enjoys a life of farm dog luxury, receiving all the attention she craves, just 45 minutes away.
